I wrote this play about forty years ago. It started out as the third Act of my Magnum Opus; "I Am Alpha & Omega". After hearing that Act III should become a separate play, I spent 25 years writing and rewriting "Nunc Licet" into it's one form as a stage drama.
It has become my intention to produce "Nun Licet" in my studio, on the sound stage I am building. I have upgraded my video equipment, so that we can do a three-camera shoot and produce a promotional video of the play. I expect to shoot it as "Theatre on Film", if for no other reason, than to record a performance for posterity and use it as a way to promote/perfect the piece. Doing this is the next step in a long process.
It has been workshopped four times, one of which took place up in the Hollywood Hills and it had one publicly produced (abbreviated) reading. It has been my intention to perform this in its entirety "as written". This means; no edits or comments from the peanut gallery. The reason for this is; that although I expect some rewrites (again), I want any rewrites to come out of the production process, not from academic opinions. Been there, done that.

Again, I emphasize that this play started out as Act Three of "I am Alpha and Omega". Act Three will now become an opera based on the Apocalypse. Unfortunately, all my notes on this, along with the lyrics I wrote seem to have been misplaced. My notes were in a volume of Swedenborg's Apocalypse Revealed and I think I left the book at a production I was performing in, so I need to reconstitute those notes. The lyrics were in a notebook on my shelf, but for some reason I cannot seem to find that notebook. So I need to redress the foundation of that opera.
Recent conversation are directing me back to rewriting "I Am Alpha & Omega", so it expect to be bringing that blog to the forefront as the rewrites progress.
So, I am working toward setting up a sound stage stage in my studio, with. Green screen. There are facility issues to be resolved before I can move forward with that in a meaningful way. I have updated my film/video equipment with reasonable HDV capabilities and I have upgraded (although not set-up) my nonlinear editing systems. This means that the equipment to create a film/video production of "Nunc Licet" will be able to take place in-house. My objective is to work out the acting/blocking end of things (again) on a reasonably sized stage (24x19) that approximates a size that most theatres can accommodate.
I'm not thinking right now about where it will go, I have considered Off-Broadway, but for now we will shoot for working it out on-camera and strive to mount it at The Mitchell Performing Arts Centre in Bryn Athyn, with the intent of moving it around the Philadelphia area and consider heading to Boston or Toronto.
This means that I am beginning to invite producers to join the team. We will need a number of producers, each of whom will taken on a different role (ie: workshop, first public performance, touring, television, etc). Obviously there will be a capital campaign to fund the operation and all the producers are expected to contribute to making that happen. Board Meetings will take place at IMS in Southampton and via Zoom if necessary when needed. My focus of attention will be on preparing the studio facilities and resources to do this. I will be Directing the show.
